Photo publi\u00e9e avec l&#039;aimable autorisation de HHI.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>En tant que directeur de programme pour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hearttoheart.org\/\">Coeur \u00e0 coeur international<\/a> (HHI), j&#039;ai dirig\u00e9 des \u00e9quipes m\u00e9dicales lors de catastrophes majeures, organis\u00e9 la formation continue de chirurgiens traumatologues en Chine, construit des laboratoires en Ha\u00efti et form\u00e9 des laborantins aux normes de laboratoire de l&#039;OMS en Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guin\u00e9e. Pas dans mes r\u00eaves ou mes cauchemars les plus fous, je n&#039;aurais pu imaginer emmener des \u00e9quipes m\u00e9dicales pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la plus grande \u00e9pid\u00e9mie d&#039;Ebola de l&#039;histoire.<\/p>\n<p>Le CDC et l&#039;OMS ont estim\u00e9 que si rien n&#039;est fait, Ebola pourrait infecter 1,4 million de personnes d&#039;ici la fin janvier 2015. Il est temps pour la communaut\u00e9 m\u00e9dicale internationale d&#039;intensifier et d&#039;inverser la tendance en Afrique de l&#039;Ouest.<\/p>\n<p>Il n&#039;y a pas beaucoup d&#039;opportunit\u00e9s de faire du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat dans une crise d&#039;Ebola. La plupart des opportunit\u00e9s de b\u00e9n\u00e9volat m\u00e9dical ont simplement besoin d&#039;un c\u0153ur bien dispos\u00e9, d&#039;un st\u00e9thoscope, de fournitures m\u00e9dicales et d&#039;une pharmacie de base. Ce n&#039;est pas le cas avec une crise d&#039;Ebola. C&#039;est une situation compliqu\u00e9e qui n\u00e9cessite des protocoles d\u00e9taill\u00e9s, une formation, des fournitures et suffisamment d&#039;\u00e9quipements de protection individuelle (EPI) pour remplir les conteneurs d&#039;exp\u00e9dition. HHI est une organisation de secours m\u00e9dical de 22 ans fond\u00e9e sur le principe que des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles avec la bonne pr\u00e9paration et les bonnes fournitures peuvent changer le monde. Il est maintenant temps que les volontaires m\u00e9dicaux puissent changer radicalement la situation en Afrique de l&#039;Ouest.<\/p>\n<p>HHI g\u00e9rera une unit\u00e9 de traitement Ebola (ETU) de 70 lits \u00e0 Kakata, au Lib\u00e9ria. L&#039;installation est en cours de construction par l&#039;arm\u00e9e am\u00e9ricaine et devrait \u00eatre achev\u00e9e \u00e0 temps pour l&#039;ouverture le 1er novembre. Nous utiliserons les protocoles du CDC et tous les volontaires suivront une formation d&#039;une semaine avec International Medical Corps. HHI s&#039;est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 passer au moins un an au Lib\u00e9ria. Nous avons besoin de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles m\u00e9dicaux pour des rotations de six semaines afin de doter ad\u00e9quatement l&#039;\u00e9tablissement en personnel. Les frais de d\u00e9placement et de subsistance des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles seront couverts.<\/p>\n<p>C&#039;est ton choix.
